Kaptin Barrett (Sound Progression)
Kaptin has been involved with the Welsh Hip hop and Rap scene for decades but his story goes much further than that. After performing at Glastonbury alongside Dregz in 2004, he spent the next 20 years involved in festival work, including half of that time as Head of Music for Boomtown. He returned back to Wales in 2022 to curate a Hip Hop exhibition at the National Museum and is currently the artist manager for Sound Progression youth charity. On top of that he's recorded a Welsh Hip hop mix for BBC Radio 1 and other mixes for 1Xtra. He also DJs around the world, having played at festivals in Hong Kong, Canada, Uganda, Tanzania and all across the UK and Europe. In 2024 he played a "Celtic Rap" set before Kneecap at Glastonbury festival, with just Welsh, Scottish and Irish rap tracks in his selection. Kaptin & Dregz also host a showcase and Open Mic cypher at FOCUS Wales.
